Shin Ye-eun was born and raised in Anyang, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea and has one older sister. Since her grandfather was a theatrical actor, she has been interested in the performing arts since a young age.

She attended Anyang Arts High School and majored in acting, before transitioning to the Performing Arts department at Sungkyunkwan University.

Before debuting as an actress, Shin Ye-eun already drew attention after appearing as the cover model for the Korean college magazine “College Tomorrow”.

It is known that the actress enjoys dancing and even has a motorcycle driving license. 

Shin Ye-eun was even once called the “new generation Suzy” due to her innocent and first love vibe.

Career

Shin Ye-eun debuted with the role of Do Ha-na in the 2018 viral web-series “A-Teen” and signed with JYP Entertainment within the same year. Later on, she went on to appear in the “Shoot Me” MV of fellow JYP artist DAY6. 

According to Shin Ye-eun herself, she was offered to debut in a girl group under JYP, but rejected due to having poor dancing skills.

In 2019, Shin Ye-eun landed her 1st leading role via the TV series “He is Psychometric”, and reprised her role of Do Ha-na in the 2nd season of “A-Teen”.

From 2019 to 2020, she worked as an MC on the music program “Music Bank” alongside Golden Child’s Choi Bo-min. 

In 2022, Shin Ye-eun had her 2nd break-out role after appearing in the K-drama “Revenge of Others”, which earned her the Best New Actress Award at the 2nd Blue Dragon Series Awards.

Within the same year, Shin Ye-eun shocked the audience as she underwent a complete transformation – from the innocent “girl-next-door” vibe an unhinged villainous look as she played the younger version of actress Lim Ji-yeon in the Netflix block-buster “The Glory”.

It was known that the director found Shin Ye-eun’s smile to be evil during her audition in “The Glory”, which likely led to her casting. 

At the time, this role got so viral, Shin Ye-eun was mistaken to be a school bully in real life and even harshly scolded.

After shining spectacularly in “The Glory”, Shin Ye-eun faced a somewhat slump with “The Secret Romantic Guesthouse”, but quickly rebounded via a supporting role in “Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born” (also known as “Jeong Nyeon”).

Controversies & Personal Life

Shin Ye-eun was once accused of undergoing plastic surgery, but has since refuted the rumors, claiming that her disappearing double eyelids were due to her face getting swollen.

The actress has faced no notable dating rumors, but has impressed the audience with her mindset regarding dating, telling people to prioritize themselves before dating. Additionally, she said that people need to respect their partners’ priority if they want to receive respect themselves.
